Intermediate Quantity Surveyor

 

The accountability includes but not limited to:

• Monitor costs of projects to ensure those are running with maximum cost efficiency
• Provide professional advice to contract preparation and administration, prepare and review contracting documents with Principal and Subcontractors
• Establish and maintain the management process of Tender/Procurement/Contract/Cost/Final account
• Estimate quantities and prices of materials/labour/machinery etc. for designated projects by studying project drawings, and prepare professional documents
• Evaluate procurement/tender documents to ensure the price is reasonable and profitable, provide professional advice on procurement strategy
• Verify progress payment claims from Subcontractors and Suppliers in accordance with the relevant contracts and actual progress on site
• Identify ambiguities and discrepancies in contract documents and request instructions/ variations as appropriate
• Request variation instructions and value contract variations including submission, negotiation and agreement
• Assess variation claims from subcontractors and review with them as necessary
• Perform site visits to check projects progress and variation work scopes for valuing completed works and arranging payments
• Manage and evaluate Subcontractor and supplier to ensure that contract value is reasonable, the relationship with them is sound and ongoing
• Prepare professional and succinct Cost report which shall include costs/outcomes/profits analysation, detailed progress report and final project cost report
• Prepare and assess Final accounts according to all valid documents and final work scopes
• Other ad hoc tasks assigned by the employer

 

Skills and Experience Required:

• At least 3 years’ experience in construction industry as QS
• Competent in Measurement Programs
• Proven knowledge of the New Zealand building code, regulations and standard construction contracts
• Relevant Quantity Surveying/Constuction/Civil Engineering degree
• Strong documentation and organization skills
• Strong attention to detail
• Excellent computer skills with the ability to pick up new programs/systems easily
• Good communication skills with staff, management and clients.
• Professional, responsible and self-motivated
• Good English oral and written skills
• Individual identity valid for NZ work permit
